How are you these days Reader?

2025 has felt like being on the back of a wildly galloping horse with no way to slow down.🐎

I've actually experienced that exact situation in real life, and let me tell you - it's extremely jolting to the body and the mind.

As the year races to the "finish line" I'm sensing a collective need for stillness. We would be wise to follow nature's cues when the weather shifts and invites us inward. Allowing ourselves to experience stillness is a potent medicine for these raw, overactive, trauma-filled times.

This morning, my yoga looked like sitting still in a chair. Feet on the floor, gaze soft, mind observing it all.

Yes, there was a quiet background hum of my mental chatter. But it didn’t get in the way of presence. It was a calm, quiet moment to just be. No talking, no tea, no meditation. It was grounding.

And it was so needed as the morning routine shifted into high gear. From that moment of stillness, I drew strength to manage the rising pressure of the ticking clock and the urgent school bus arrival.

This I know: Whether the source of stress is world news or the day-to-day challenges in our own home, stillness is a balancing force.

Try the simple practice below and see what it can offer you as you navigate your days. May you be well.

Simple Practice

Invite yourself to an intentional moment of stillness. 5, 10 or 15 minutes is a great place to start. You can try early morning or just before bed to see which time of day allows you more presence. Choose a comfortable seat for this practice, in a chair or on the floor, but avoid lying down. Eyes may be opened or closed and it would be ideal to have an element of nature in your line of sight (🌀️ πŸͺ΄ πŸ•―οΈ). Begin by observing yourself. Then, notice your surroundings, simply being with what is, in the moment. Close your practice with gratitude, making a mental note of how you feel.
