What's Present Now | Simple Practice | Updates + Offerings
Greetings Reader,
How are you today?
I truly hope the holiday season has been a time of peace and restoration for you and those you love.
Whether you are entering this year celebrating and planning, grieving a loss or needing rest and recovery, know that it is all ok.
My sense in the wider collective is that we are in need of deep rest right now. Not a few days off or extra time to sleep in. The rest I’m talking about is deeper than sleep. It’s a calling to pause everything, make time for introspection and truly feel into what needs to change or be let go.
- Where are new patterns and new habits needed?
- How are your current practices failing you? What’s going well?
- What would be possible if you stopped just one thing you’ve been doing for ages?
Quick story: Last March, I reached out to a naturopath. I had been doing yoga asana 5 days a week for over 6 months and I was in pain. Now I loved the movement, but the daily, sometimes debilitating lower back pain eventually became too much. I couldn’t ignore it any longer or wish it away. The naturopath took a full history, provided treatments and ultimately said: “you need to rest”. Initially, I was annoyed 😡 But I soon decided to onboard the advice. And I am so glad that I did.
I learned first-hand a deeper meaning of rest. Yes, rest means naps and doing less. But it’s also about interrupting our habits and patterns of daily living. It’s taking stock of what we do on repeat and connecting to whether it’s still working for us, or not. It’s about intentionally choosing and prioritizing yourself - not to become more “productive” but to become more present to your truth.
Of course, this isn’t always easy to do. Disrupting our daily routines and putting ourselves first is can feel downright crazy at first. I say: try it anyway.
Stopping my daily movement practice felt completely counterintuitive to me. It made no sense and I didn’t want to. But I allowed myself to stay curious about what would happen if I did stop.
And you know what? It just what I needed. Over time and along with other changes, the pain eased and then, stopped altogether. Sacred rest is healing.
I’d love to share more about this if you’re interested. Just reply and let me know!
If you're not feeling all the "new year, new you" rhetoric that January brings, you're not alone. Many of us are ready to leave 2025 behind, but we’re not buying into the illusion of sudden change because the calendar says so. Change is possible whenever you choose it.
So, resolutions aside, I'm open to making space for new habits and practices when the time feels right. I'll be taking some of the rituals I learned last year into 2026. I'm committing to incorporating a few new things to keep my energy clear and vibrant. Check out this month's Simple Practice below for an easy ritual you can start your day with.
This I Know: No matter where today finds you, or what unfolds in the year ahead, sacred rest can be a grounding and balancing force that keeps us on track and in divine alignment.
May 2026 be a balanced year of growth, goodness and sacred rest.
Simple Practice
2-Minute Ritual for Grounding
1. Sit with both feet on the ground and allow your shoulders relax down.
2. Slowly take a breath in, for four counts.
3. Hold gently at the top for one second.
4. Exhale for six, letting the breath fully release out.
5. As you exhale, quietly say to yourself: I can move at my own pace
Repeat for three rounds. Notice what softens in your body. This simple and effective practice can set the foundation for a peacefulness in your day and even change the way your whole day unfolds.
